About

Background

I approach my work from a holistic, spiritual perspective, considering my client's body, mind, and soul. Healing is a partnership between client and therapist; I help facilitate the innate ability we all have to heal ourselves through loving kindness.

Soma is the Greek word for 'body' and represents the myriad methods of healing in my practice. My training in Swedish, Esalen, and traditional Thai massage techniques, as well as energy healing, form the foundation of my practice. I can then focus on specific issues using trigger point, active point, and myofascial release techniques, as well as stretching and passive movement. Hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, and a host of other modalities often find their way into my sessions.

Effleurage strokes using long, slow, and complete movements are at the core of my style. Having grown up on the coast in Santa Cruz, California, my massage style is influenced by the ocean waves, and the rhythm of ebb and flow. I've received training from the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California, whose integrative approach to bodywork applies massage in a holistic and intuitive way. Click here to read more about Esalen.

Dance and movement have taught me that the body is three dimensional and dynamic, designed to move. I have a Bachelor's degree in music theory, and music's harmony and rhythm play into my work, as well.

Universal energy, also known as chi, ki, prana, Reiki, and a host of other names, is inseparable from the physical body and another vital aspect of my practice. I work with the subtle energies of the body, addressing the chakras, nadis, and energetic bodies. Click here to learn more about Reiki. I am a student of the Ageless Wisdom, and believe that all is one. I approach my work with reverence and an open heart.

My rabbit friend Maia has also inspired me, teaching me to be in the present moment, the importance of self-care, and the magic of connecting with another being (love). I have studied animal massage and offer workshops under her guidance.

I have worked in a wide variety of settings, from chiropractors' and dentists' offices to luxury spas; high-end hotels to airports; private kennels to dog pounds; and marathons to corporate offices. I am versatile and professional, nurturing and caring.
